This contest is intended for all composers of any nationality, with no age limit.

| Article 2 : |
The contest comprises two categories
1 - Work for Wind Band alone . The degree
of difficulty will correspond to the 4 th standard on the international
scale that includes 6 standards. The duration of the work is
10 minutes at the very most.
2 - Work for alto saxophone solo and Wind Band Orchestra .
The standard of difficulty is to reach 4 or 5 for the solo part
and 4 for the Wind Band Orchestra part. The duration of the work
is 15 minutes at the very most.
The works surpassing those standards of difficulty will not
be selected. Nonetheless the composer may provide one or more
freely-chosen shortened sequences, ad libitum, so as to limit
the difficulty to these standards.
The nomenclature of the orchestration will be as follows :
Flute 1 and 2 ; piccolo ; oboe 1 and 2 ; bassoon 1 and 2 ;
English horn ; small clarinet in E flat ; clarinet 1, 2, 3 ;
bass clarinet ; harp (ad libitum) alto saxophone 1 and 2 ; tenor
saxophone 1 and 2 ; baritone saxophone ; horn 1, 2, 3, 4 ; cornet
and trumpet 1, 2, 3 ; trombone 1, 2, 3 ; bass trombone ; baritone
saxhorn ; B flat bass saxhorn 1, 2 ; bass saxhorn ; tuba ; string
bass ; kettledrums and percussion.

| Article 3 : |
It is imperative that the works be presented as a complete score. A publishing-
house partner of the contest will have priority over the publishing of the prize-winning
works. This right will be exclusive. A recording of the final may be realized
by this publishing-house, which reserves the right to sell that recording in
any form.

| Article 4 : |
In order to take part in
the contest, the candidates will send the conductors of their
works by mail or e-mail before 12 pm (French time) on June 1,
2006.
The preselection is planned late June, early July, 2006.
The final is planned on Sunday 22 October 2006.

| Article 5 : |
The sending of the works, in which the category selected by the candidate will
be mentioned, must imperatively be done as follows :

The score will carry an assumed name and will be sent together
with a closed envelope mentioning the same assumed name. In that
closed envelope will be mentioned the first name, surname, date
of birth, address, phone number, fax number and e-mail address
of the candidate.

In case you have it sent by internet, the organizer commits
himself to preserving the authors’anonymity with the jury.
Each candidate will be sent an acknowledgement of receipt making
his contribution to the preselection contest official.

| Article 6 : |
No distinctive sign enabling
the identification of the composer must show in the score for
fear of exclusion.
|
| Article 7 : |
The preselection jury’s
purpose is to select the works that will be admitted to the final
among all the scores received. Three works will be chosen in
each category.
A composer will be represented by only one of his works.
When the preselection is over, the composers whose works have
been selected for the final, will be informed by mail. They must
send the orchestral scores of their works for September 15 (included)
so that the professional Wind Band Orchestra that will interpret
it on the day of the final day may rehearse.

| Article 8 : |
The final will take place
in Lambersart and will be open to the public.
Once the final is over, and after the jury’s due deliberation,
the results will be immediately announced. No equal places will
be admitted.

| Article 9 : |
The prizes will be as follows
:
3 500 euros for First in each category
1 250 euros for Second in each category
1 000 euros for Third in each category
A special public prize of 500 euros will be attributed to the
work selected by the public.

| Article 10 : |
The Jury will be composed
of key figures of the musical world and presided by Mr
Désiré DONDEYNE.
The works for alto saxophone will be interpreted by Mr
Daniel GREMELLE, international soloist.
They will attend the preselection.

| Article 11 : |
Members of the Jury, including
the members of their families, will not be allowed to take part
in the contest.
The decisions of the Jury are final and without appeal.
The Jury reserves the right not to grant certain prizes.

| Article 12 : |
The compositions must be
original and never before performed.
They cannot have been published or have entered another contest.
The finalists will be asked a certificate on their honour.
|
| Article 13 : |
The organizers decline
any responsability in case of deterioration, loss or theft of
the works.
The organizers cannot be held responsible in case this contest
is modified, postponed or cancelled for a major reason.
The organizers reserve the right to replace the members of
the Jury who could not be present for a major reason.

| Article 14 : |
Any travelling undertaken by the candidates for the final will not be paid for
by the organizers.
|
| Article 15 : |
Taking part in the contest
implies the acceptation of the present regulation that each candidate
must read carefully. The non respect of this regulation will
automatically entail the exclusion from the contest with no recourse
against this decision.
In case of complaint, only the French text of this regulation
is valid. |
